"No Walls!" - New Sanctuary Network Refuses Hate Messages in Tulsa

NSNT Volunteer covers up hate messages in Tulsa, OK

On Tuesday, Tulsa, OK was struck with another incident in which graffiti was used to spread messages of hate and fear among the Latinx community.

“BUILD THE WALL” was repeatedly stenciled across the walls of a building that was surrounded by several local Latinx owned businesses in what appears to be an effort to incite division and fear. The most recent in a string of minority targeting messages of hate speech, this has rocked Tulsa and its generally more progressive metropolitan areas.

After anti-LGBT vandalism in July, Nazi symbols in August, and now this apparent anti-immigration message, concern for the safety of our undocumented family and minority brothers and sisters has reached our doorstep - and New Sanctuary Network is about ACTION!

Springing to action, some of our volunteers acted to reverse the hate and showed up to paint over the graffiti.

A special thanks to our volunteers for their visible solidarity!
